The most important result of the project is research of the technology of gradient aluminium foam preparation using powder metallurgical precursor and also from the mixture of aluminium melt with added foaming agent powder, stabilizing powders and powder metallurgical precursor. Composition of the mixture of the aluminium melt with stabilizing powders, foaming agent powder and powder metallurgical precursor have been gradually optimized with respect to the achievement of gradient foam structure. Further, the mechanical and physical properties of the prepared gradient aluminium foams were examined. These were shown to be comparable to homogeneous aluminium foams of given density prepared by powder metallurgy procedure only.
