The Centre of excellence has been created from selected Departments of seven Institutes of Slovak Academy of Sciences with the aim to reach the critical mass for systematic research and development of nanostructured and ultrafine grained materials with extraordinary properties. The main scientific goal of the Centre is to understand physical phenomena in materials composed of nanosized building blocks occurring during their processing and understand physical, mechanical and fracture phenomena during their testing and practical applications.
