The most important result of the project is a possibility to prepare aluminium foam directly from the mixture of aluminium melt, aluminium and/or aluminium alloy powder, foaming agent and usual powder metallurgical precursor. Composition of the mixture of aluminium melt, stabilising powders, foaming agent and powder metallurgical precursor was optimised with respect to foam reproducibility, homogeneity and isotropy of its structure. The obtained structures and mechanical and physical proerties of such aluminium foams are simillar to corresponding structures and properties of aluminium foams prepared purely by powder metallurgical route. Further, very important results is a possibility to inject such foam directly into ceramic shell moulds.
