The 28^th International Conference on Metallurgy and Materials - METAL 2019 was held from 22^th to 24^th May 2019 in Brno (Czech Republic).The history of METAL conference started in 1992 and several hundreds of foreign experts participate on this conference every year. This year, our colleagues from the Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics of SAS contributed also to the scientific program of this conference.
Five interesting oral lectures focused on the main topic "Cast in-situ TiAl-based matrix composites reinforced with carbide particles."were presented by Ing. Juraj Lapin, DrSc., RNDr. Tatiana Pelachová, PhD. and Ing. Michaela Štamborská, PhD. in the session of Non-Ferrous Metals and Alloys.
Another success was achieved in the poster section of the conference. Our PhD student Ing. Kateryna Kamyshnykova was awarded by the 1st Prizein the best poster contest - METAL 2019 (www.metalconference.eu/en/). Kateryna won with poster under the title: Microstructure optimization of centrifugally cast in-situ TiAl- based matrix composite reinforced with Ti₂AlC particles. We all congratulate her on this achievement.
