Aluminum foam in design practice

Juraj Olejár, a student in the Studio of experimental design at the Department of design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava under the supervision of doc. Mgr. art. Sylvia Jokelová and doc. Ing. Mgr. art. Marián Laššák, ArtD., completed his bachelor's thesis on "Research of new materials and their use in design practice". The purpose of his bachelor's thesis was the research and application of aluminum foam in design practice. He consulted on the properties and methods of preparing aluminum foam at the Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics SAV, at Dr. Simančík. The goal of work was to find a suitable author's technology for its processing using specific physical and visual properties without using technologies available in serial production. Based on a series of experiments with processing the given material and its surface treatment, a series of designer prototypes was created, from jewelry to furniture.
